Geology & Engineering in a Mining Economy with Donald Fosnacht and George Hudak

Join a team of scientists from the University of Minnesota-Duluth as they discuss the environmental, scientific, and economic aspects of iron and metallic mining in the Lake Superior basin. The talk will focus on unique geological formations that are driving the mining boom and how modern mines are engineered to extract and process ores into raw materials. 

George Hudak is the director of the Minerals Division. George is responsible for overseeing both the Minerals Laboratory in Coleraine, Minnesota and the Duluth Minerals Group. He is also the associate director of the Precambrian Research Center. 

Donald Fosnacht is the director of the Center for Applied Research and Technology Development. He is a metallurgical engineer with a broad background that includes minerals extraction and minerals processing, extractive and physical metallurgy and analytical chemistry.
