Potlucks start around 6 pm at the Bad River Youth Building (Old Tribal School).  These are public events -- everyone is welcome!

Directions to the Bad River Youth Building:

From the west take U.S. 2 towards Odanah.  Take the first left onto MAPLE LANE after the signs for "Odanah".  Take Maple Lane for about 0.3 of a mile, taking a left at the second street.  The Bad River Youth Building is the first building on the RIGHT.  

From the east, take U.S. 2 towards Odanah.  After you pass the casino, take the third RIGHT onto Maple Lane.  Take Maple Lane for about 0.3 of a mile, taking the second left.  The Bad River Youth Building is the first building on the RIGHT.  

We'll put a sign up on Maple Lane where you need to turn left.

Penokee Hills Education Project

The Mining Impact Coalition of Wisconsin, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization.  Our mission is public education, networking, and grassroots organizing on the environmental, health, social, and economic issues of mining that disproportionately affect Native and rural populations. The Penokee Hills Education Project is an education and outreach project of the Mining Impact Coalition and is focused on issues related to the proposed development of iron mining in northern Wisconsin.  Tax deductible donations can be mailed to: Mining Impact Coalition, P.O. LCO Harvest and Education Learning Project (HELP)

HELP is a year-round learning facility located within the Penokee Hills, sponsored by the Lac Courte Oreilles Lake Superior Chippewa Band.  Several individuals have been living in wigwams at the camp for almost one year, engaging in, and teaching about, seasonal harvesting and subsistence living.  HELP camp is open to the public and accepts donations of firewood, food, etc., and also accepts monetary contributions.  Please contact Paul DeMain at 715-634-5226 Ext.1 or see http://www.lco-nsn.gov/mining.php
