Educational Benefit to oppose the mine..

Next Wednesday, there will be an educational benefit to oppose the proposed mine in the headwaters of the Bad River.  I hope that you will join me there. And, please share this invitation with others who will be interested in participating.

The event begins at 6:00 with a potluck dinner.  A fry bread taco bar will be provided.  You are welcome to bring a dish or beverage (non-alcoholic) to share, but it isn't required.

Beginning at 7:00 there will be brief presentations by Bad River Tribal Chair Mike Wiggins, Jr., Ho-Chunk President Jon Greendeer, and others.

A silent auction featuring artwork, snowshoes, wild rice, and many other items will run throughout the evening.

The event will close at 8:00 pm.

All donations will be contributed to “Defend the Bad River” to support legal efforts to oppose the mine and protect the Bad River Watershed.

You are welcome to come for all or part of the event. All contributions welcomed.  If you aren't able to attend, but would like to contribute to this effort, on-line donations can be made at through paypal using the link on the Bad River tribal www.badriver-nsn.gov (link is at the bottom on the right side).  You can also send a check to: The Bad River Tribe, P.O. Box 39, Odanah, WI 54861.

The educational fundraiser will be held at The Greenhouse at 1220 Briggs Court in downtown Stevens Point.  Parking is available in the municipal parking lot near Shopko – across the street from The Greenhouse.

This event is organized by concerned members in the watershed of the Wisconsin River who stand in solidarity with the people of the Bad River watershed. Considerable contributions were made by the Bad River Tribe, Ho-Chunk Nation and local businesses and artisans.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
