Once again the Ashland Area Development Council is touting the benefits of economic gain at any cost. Blindly embracing a large scale economic adventure such as mining certainly deserves more scrutiny that it appears has been offered by the AADC. Good economic principles include considering the long-range environmental, social, and economic impacts on our region. It appears selling new cars and snowmobiles is more important that addressing water protection. After reading this article WE can only conclude the profound statement. "We'll be talking with the different townships and stuff in the future", smacks of incompetence. The AADC receives at least $60,000 a year from the taxpayers of Ashland and Ashland County. WE deserve more than the reassurance that "stuff" addressed in the future!
