Other events this month include a Water Walk on May 31, with a Cinco de Mayo planning session on Monday, May 5 (see attached flyer), and a planning session for the flotilla on Saturday, May 24. Friday, May 9 Protect Our Future, film showing & honoring:
The Bad River youth filmmakers, Shania Jackson, Jordan Principato and Ahpahane Thomas, will be present with their families, and with Patty Loew, Bad River tribal member and film teacher/mentor for a community honoring. Patty, the youth filmmakers and their families have been traveling throughout the country for the past several months, showing the film at film festivals, at schools and in communities, spreading the word about Bad River's struggle to keep mining out of the Penokee Hills. It's a beautiful film and their dedication to spreading the word about this issue is truly admirable.
