Public Hearing on Great Lakes Oil Shipping Terminal

Elkhorn Industries is working with Superior Calumet Refinery in an effort to build an oil shipping terminal at Connors Point in Superior, Wisconsin. Elkhorn submitted on January 23, 2013 a Water Resources for Project Permit work application to Wisconsin DNR for “Elkhorn dock rehabilitation on the bed of Lake Superior.” Proposal is to “rehabilitate 703 linear feet of dock wall along the water ward edge of Elkhorn Industries dock by sheet piling along the existing dock wall and to tie back the wall into the existing fill.”
This is the first permit related to shipping of tar sand oil on the Great Lakes.
