Learn what is happening in the Penokee Hills from Koehn, a former member of the Bayfield County Board and Chairman of the Penokee Hills Education Project. Plans are in place to develop and operate a taconite pellet production facility and possibly the largest open pit iron ore mine in the world. You will learn about the Penokee Hills Education Project, the geography of the area, the planned development time line, and actions taken by the local tribes and the Ashland and Iron County Boards.
