The Penokee Hills Education Project (PHEP) in cooperation with the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute (SOEI) will host a forum focused on mining regulations and pending legislation and how it may impact taconite mining in the Penokee Hills and the Bad River Watershed.
The forum will include presentations and perspectives on the mining regulations and proposed legislation. Assembly Bill (AB 426) has generated sharply divided opinions over how taconite mining should be regulated in Wisconsin. Public will have opportunities to ask questions
PHEP and SOEI are providing this forum, as a public service in hope the information will deepen the understanding of the issues that will lead to an informed civic response.
