A Declaration for the Great Lakes....
Turtles left unprotected by DNR, Gtac's 600 foot forbidden zone, and Wisconsin’s Governor
To Stacy Rowe, DNR - These trutles were photographed on public lands, roads, or private lands that
the public can still access.
These critters need our protection, not loopholes, variances, waivers, of special exemptions.
To protect future generations of Wood Turtles. This is a request for DNR to mark the nests and close the roads to heavy
large vehicle traffic.
Wood turtles in the Penokees have roamed the area for hundreds and hundreds of years.
And now they are threatened by our of state speculators, who some beleive have foreign investors waiting
to pounce on the Penokees with little regard for the water resources and the life that abounds in this fragile ecosystem.
Hopefully the laws have not been gutted to the extent that we stand by and watch the slow demise of creatures who
have been aound for hundreds of years.
The health of the ecosystem is at stake. We will be judged by those who follow us. Will our children’s children look back
in dismay at the greed or will they celebrate and remember us as ancestors who repected all life and natures natural systems?
